Specialization

I, Rodolfo E. Biasca, am a multilingual professional with degrees in industrial engineering and business administration; and important additional education in the fields of information technology, economics and education. I have worked as a manager and consultant in 120 organizations. I have taught in 59 universities in 20 countries and written 15 books, mostly in an interdisciplinary field that could be labeled as organizational improvement / competitiveness improvement / business transformation /corporate renewal /performance enhancement.

Support evidence will demonstrate that I qualify to work as business management consultant and Faculty. A brief résumé is in another section of this web site.

A. FIELD OF BUSINESS.

I expect to continue working in the same activities I have had in different countries; i.e. as:

  • International Business Consultant.
I can show a record of more than 25 years in this activity.
In the US, I have been certified as a “Professional Consultant” by the Alliance of Professional Consultants in Denver, Co.

Rodolfo Biasca & Associates Inc. has already been registered in Colorado. The Colorado Certificate of Good Standing can be seen in the state’s web site.

In year 2004, I was contracted as a part-time international consultant by the World Bank to make recommendations related to the turnaround of the public water company in Honduras (see letter in Exhibit 13). This a good international example: the Word Bank is a prestigious international organization (http://www.worldbank.org/) owned by 184 member countries, with 10,000 employees and 100 country offices, that contracts me as an expert in the field of corporate restructuring, recognizing the expertise in the subject and the Latin American region.
  • International Business Faculty and Executive Seminar Speaker, teaching graduate courses and continuing education seminars for executives (class-based or on-line). I had had teaching activities in almost 60 universities in 20 countries.
I have already delivered one seminar in Denver at the Colorado School of Mines, and
I have been certified as Online Professor by the Colorado Technical University.
Located at Denver, Colorado, I am offering consulting and educational services to American companies doing business in Latin America or in the American Hispanic market or with substantial amount of Hispanic Personnel in the US or with manufacturing operations in Latin America.
I am offering US universities and colleges to expand their international activities through traditional class based or online programs, increasing in that way their international revenues (one example is the Koubek Center of University of Miami, which is offering my seminars in its website.

I will continue to provide consulting and educational services to South American companies that need to improve their competitiveness. Executive programs and seminars are and will be offered at universities and educational institutions.

As stated above, my intentions will be to continue to work in my field of endeavor.

B. EDUCATION.

As my first degree was in Industrial Engineering, it is not proper to label me as an “Industrial Engineer”.

Certain clarification is necessary:

  • My first degree is in Industrial Engineering. Studies were made in Argentina. In that country there was an educational system similar to the French during the 60’s. In this case, a six-year, full-time study in general engineering with some emphasis in organizational improvement was titled Industrial Engineering. According to the WES Credential Evaluation, the degree is equivalent to US Bachelor and Master in Industrial Engineering (1968).
  • I had MBA studies in Business Administration at the University of California, Berkeley (1980).
  • I attended programs in Business Administration, Information Technology and Economics at prestigious US and foreign universities:

    Stanford University, 1980.
    University of Minnesota, 1980.
    Columbia University, 1994.
    INSEAD, France, 1997.
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School), 1998.
Northwestern University (Kellogg School of Management), 1999.

It is important to indicate that business magazines always mention Wharton, Kellogg, Columbia, Stanford and INSEAD in the list of top 20 places in the world to get a graduate business education.

C. MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT. FIELD OF SPECIALIZATION.

As Business Management Consultant my main field of specialization is well defined. Several names are used, although technically they have not the same meaning: Organizational Improvement, Change Management, Performance Improvement, Competitiveness Enhancement, Restructuring and Corporate Renewal.

For that field a background in industrial engineering is extremely useful, but an important knowledge of business administration matters is necessary. Knowledge in Economics and Information Technology helps. Consequently, my broad education gives me a substantial competitive advantage.

Brochures printed in the 90’s show that this not a definition that is made today.

D. PREVIOUS ACTIVITY AS MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT.

International relationships with consultant firms.
It is important to mention some facts that indicate my previous activity as consultant:

  • United Nations. Worked as a consultant in 1994.
  • World Bank. Worked in Honduras in 2004.
  • Tompkins Associates Inc., Raleigh, NC, USA (http://www.tompkinsinc.com). Represented the US firm in Argentina between 1994 and 1999.
  • Valuation Research Group, directed by Valuation Research Corp., USA (www.valuationresearch.com). Affiliated to the group and representative in Argentina since 1996.
  • After arriving to the US, I have been certified as a “Professional Consultant” by the Alliance of Professional Consultants in Denver, Co.

E. THE QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO BE A MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT.

To be hired as a management consultant a person not only needs education, some specialization and some demonstrations of success (as publications). In that field it is important to have worked previously as a manager. All my previous work as manager in different companies is not mentioned.
Reference letters are available, making comments of my professional life as manager and consultant.

CONCLUSION

I am a professional of extraordinary ability who has ascended to the very top of my field of endeavor. My abilities in business are beyond reproach and have been recognized by the numerous institutions, by the 15 books I have written, by the teaching experience in 20 countries, by the membership in associations, both in the US and around the world, and by impressive achievements in different organizations as manager and consultant.
